Fethiye: How to make the most of your visit to this picturesque paradise

Fethiye is a picturesque coastal town located in the southwestern part of Turkey, in the province of Muğla. It’s nestled on the turquoise shores of the Aegean Sea and surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including rugged mountains, lush forests, and crystal-clear waters. Here are some highlights of Fethiye:

Ölüdeniz: One of Turkey’s most famous beaches, Ölüdeniz is renowned for its breathtaking beauty, with a stunning blue lagoon backed by lush green hills. The beach is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and paragliding, thanks to its calm waters and favorable winds.

Blue Voyage (Gulet Cruises): Fethiye is a starting point for many Blue Voyage cruises along the Turquoise Coast. Travelers can embark on a traditional wooden gulet boat and explore the secluded bays, hidden coves, and picturesque islands of the region. These cruises offer a unique way to experience the natural beauty of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.

Kayaköy (Ghost Town): Located just outside Fethiye, Kayaköy is a deserted village with hundreds of abandoned stone houses. Once inhabited by Greek Orthodox Christians, the village was abandoned during the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920s. Today, it’s a hauntingly beautiful open-air museum, offering a glimpse into the region’s history and cultural heritage.

The Canyon is 300 meters deep and 18 km long, resulting from the abrasion of the rocks by flowing waters over thousands of years. Four kilometers of the canyon are walkable after April, when most of the snow in the Taurus Mountains has melted and passed through on its way to the Mediterranean Sea. Saklıkent means "hidden city" in Turkish.
